Who we are
Mary Timurlenkoglu, trading as Mary the childminder — an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Islington, N7 8RD. For data-protection matters, contact us via the website's contact form.
What we collect
When you use the contact form, we receive:
- Your name and email address
- Optional details about your enquiry — child's first name, age, preferred start date, days or hours needed, funding interest, and your message
- Your IP address, used only for spam and abuse protection
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing tools on this website. We do not collect data from visitors who don't submit the form.
Children's information
Any details about a child are provided by you, their parent or guardian, as part of an enquiry. We only use them to understand whether we can offer a suitable place and, if your child later joins us, to provide safe care. We do not ask children for their own information through this website.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a visit
- To detect and block automated spam submissions
- For enrolled children, to maintain the records required to provide safe care and meet Ofsted obligations
We do not use your data for marketing.
Legal basis (UK GDPR)
- Legitimate interest — replying to enquiries you initiate
- Contract — once your child is enrolled, the data needed to provide care
- Legal obligation — Ofsted, HMRC and safeguarding record-keeping
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Resend — email delivery; sends your contact-form message to Mary and a confirmation copy back to you
- Vercel — website hosting and short-lived server logs
- Upstash — temporary spam and abuse protection; briefly holds your IP address and email to rate-limit submissions
- Cloudflare — “are you human?” bot check on the form (when enabled), which processes your IP address
- Unsplash — hosts some of the photos on the site; your browser's IP address is visible to it when an image loads
- Ofsted, local authority, or other regulator — only where required by law (for example a safeguarding referral)
We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where your data is processed
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as UK ‘adequacy’ regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
How long we keep it
- Unsuccessful enquiries: deleted after 12 months
- Records about enrolled children: kept while in our care and for 7 years after the child leaves, in line with Ofsted requirements
- Spam-protection data: the IP address and email used for rate-limiting expire automatically within 24 hours and are not used for anything else
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to processing. Contact us via the contact form and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing that would have a legal or similarly significant effect. Automated checks only screen out obvious spam — every genuine enquiry is read and answered by Mary.
Cookies
This website sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and the public pages and contact form set no cookies at all. The only cookie used is a strictly necessary session cookie that signs Mary in to the private admin area. Because we use only essential cookies, no cookie-consent banner is required.
